I am Emi Gennis, a 20-something living in Chicago and reading a whole lot of comic books. This blog is where I’m going to write about those comic books. After writing here for about a year I’ve decided to stop using the word “review” in my posts because that’s not what I’m doing. You’re not going to get an unbiased look at someone’s work here, and honestly you’re probably not going to read too much about anything I didn’t like. If I’m reading a comic there’s a reason I’m reading it and the reason is nearly always that it appeals to my tastes in some way. So let’s call this my “Recommended Reading” list. I’ll talk about comics I like and sometimes comics-related things like adaptations or controversies and occasionally even some theory.
I also make my own comics that can be seen right here. I draw a twice-weekly comic strip called Owlex about my adventures in Chicago with some fictional people/birds. I also make minicomics sometimes that are a little more autobiographical in a collection called SPAZ! The first two issues are available for purchase right here for the hefty price of $2. If you would like to contribute to the making of issue #3 you may feel free to donate.
If somehow you still aren’t tired of me yet, you can follow me on Twitter and I will talk about all kinds of boring stuff like how much I like beet salads and my cat and maybe occasionally show you a sneak peek at what I am working on.
I THINK YOUR WEBLOG IS PRETTY GOOD.
Hi Emi-
I found you! I love this blog and look forward to more. I’d like to learn some more about comics and what’s out there for a bunch of reasons that we can discuss over the phone. Can’t wait to catch up with you.
